Uzhgorod became the leader of the rating "Index of Competitiveness of Ukrainian Cities 2019/2020" in two components – "The cost of compliance" and "Taxes and fees". The index is determined by analyzing many parameters to assess the business climate in cities, including the effectiveness of economic governance.
The research is conducted by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting under the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Program through a subcontract with Info Sapiens. This year, 23 regional centers of Ukraine took part in it, a total of about 5 thousand entrepreneurs.
The rating was presented the day before in Kyiv at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.
Uzhgorod was named the leader in the cost of compliance, as entrepreneurs spend almost 50% less time than the national average on compliance with local regulations and only an average of 2.5% of annual income, while the average is 3.7%.
Uzhgorod was also recognized the first in the "Taxes and fees" component. The high result of our city was ensured by a combination of such factors as low tax costs, low time spendings for administration of taxes and fees, less burdensome local taxes and the availability of rebates for local taxes and fees, the Uzhgorod City Council informed.
