The International Airport "Uzhgorod" may stop receving airplanes on the 1st of October. The airdrome certificate, which expired in March, was prolonged by the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine only until October 1.
On March 20, the State commission for the certification and registration of airfields and permission for use of permanent landing sites, by its decision, recommended to discontinue the operation of the airport "Uzhgorod" because of the poor state of aviation security. In order to obtain a valid certificate, the management of the airport must pay 46,000 UAH for training of the airport aviation security.
Currently, the financial position of the municipal enterprises International Airport "Uzhgorod" is extremely difficult, so the company has appealed to the regional authorities to allocate funds for training of the employees.
In general, the company has 68 employees. Over the past three years, the government has invested in the airport 5.5 million hryvnias from the budget. Last year, 257 scheduled flights with 12,500 passengers departed from the airport.
