Until we solve the problem with carriers causing premature wear, Ukrainian roads will be breaking faster than we will be able to repair them – Robert Horvat

People’s deputies from Transcarpathia demand to ensure proper dimensional and weight control on the roads of the region. People’s deputies Robert Horvat, Valeriy Lunchenko and Vasyl Petyovka appealed with the corresponding request to the State Service for Transport Safety of Ukraine. This was reported today, November 13, by a co-author of the request Robert Horvat on his Facebook page. In particular, the MP mentioned the current situation on the recently renovated M-25 road.

"This year, 150 million hryvnias was allocated from the state budget for the capital repair of the motorway M-25 between the city of Chop and the village of Velyka Dobron. This road connecting Chop with Mukachevo was not repaired for almost 30 years, and now 16 km of road surface and three bridges have already been renovated.   However, because of insufficient control over the weight of cargo being transported on this road, the road surface is already beginning to collapse", – Robert Horvat said.

According to the people’s deputy, this year the works on Ukrainian highways have been particularly active on account of the money from the Road Fund.

"2019 has already been declared the year of roads in Ukraine, so the works will continue. However, until we solve the problem with dimensional and weight control and the carriers causing premature wear of roads, Ukrainian roads will be breaking faster than we will be able to repair them. Ukraine cannot afford it", – Horvat says.

In this regard, Robert Horvat, Vasyl Petyovka and Valeriy Lunchenko appealed to the State Service for Transport Safety of Ukraine with the request to ensure proper dimensional and weight control of the road transport carrying goods in Transcarpathian region.
