United Center: The President heads the collapse of democracy. We need early elections

The United Center believe that only early presidential and parliamentary election is an effective opposition to the government pressure on the parliament and society. This is the only mechanism that will stop the process of usurping of power and will bring Ukraine back on the democratic development path.

The systematic use of courts to fight the parliamentary opposition leads to a distortion of voting results, makes every deputy a vulnerable target for power and virtually eliminates the legislative branch’s autonomy in decision making. In this situation, the Parliament of Ukraine can become the office of the President to make desired decisions.

With the Parliament and judiciary controlled by the President, who actually leads the process of democracy collapse in the country, simultaneous elections are the only way to stop Ukraine from further slipping into authoritarianism.

We believe that a reset of the government will allow to begin the actual process of change in the country, to elect a new parliament and a new pro-European President.
