The National Guard will be formed on the basis of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and a partial mobilization will be declared – Turchinov

The National Security Council decided to form the National Guard on the basis of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. This was stated by the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchinov opening the session of the Parliament.

"Today, there was a meeting of the National Security Council and the following decision was adopted: to form the National Guard on the basis of Internal Troops of Ukraine with a purpose to protect Ukraine and its citizens against internal and external threats" – Turchinov said.

In addition, he said that the National Security Council decided to declare a partial mobilization to the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"It will not apply to children. It will apply to volunteers who have been trained," – Turchinov said.
