Ukrainians, who forged documents for obtaining Hungarian citizenship, have been convicted in Hungary

The district court of the Hungarian border town of Nieregyhaza, which is 80 kilometers away from the border with Ukraine, convicted the persons accused of forging documents for obtaining Hungarian citizenship. In total, 51 people were charged in the case.

12 accused received suspended sentences – 2 to 10 years in prison, – the spokesman Dalma Roshan said revealing the details of the court ruling passed on April 11.

 Also, fines in amount of 50 thousand forints were imposed on 39 Ukrainians, who tried to obtain Hungarian citizenship in a fraudulent way.

The two defendants, who have dual citizenship of Hungary and Ukraine, received the most severe sentences. They admitted that they had committed fraud and forgery to help Ukrainians obtain Hungarian citizenship for monetary rewards.
