The cost of utilities may increase by one-third: current tariffs for communal services are not economically reasonable, says the National Commission. Sooner or later Ukraine will have to fulfill "tariff" requirements of IMF. But so far the manner and timing of implementation of these intentions have not been determined.
The Government of Ukraine is attentive to the "tariff" requirements of the IMF, and the tasks under the program must be implemented. The question is the manner and timing of their implementation.
This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky at the press conference in Yalta.
The chairman of the National Commission on State Regulation of Utilities Valeriy Saratov also noted that current rates for utilities are not economically reasonable.
According to him, the tariffs for water and wastewater services cover only 69% of their cost. The situation with the price of heating is a little better – current tariff covers 74% of the cost. This situation is caused by the growing cost of the tariff components, said the official.
"Raising of rates is only possible along with the simultaneous growth of people’s ability to pay them, or with the introduction of state social assistance programs," – said Saratov.
