Ukrainian trains – most TRANscendent! (PHOTO)

I haven’t travelled by train for ages. But to be honest … it is good. It is shocking: more than 20 years have passed since Ukraine became independent and began to fight for the respect of other nations. But its "railway" issues remain a subject for debates both for Ukrainians and our guests.

Although it is several months that modern cutting-edge trains have been running in Ukraine, even being expensive, they never made it to Transcarpathia. Therefore our countrymen have to travel in old, dilapidated carriages, as, for example, the Odessa one which is in the photo.

Here you can see an improved air conditioning system – windows backed with plastic bottles, renewed carpets, perhaps, the train is now being served by a cleaning company, automated curtains, and, of course, do not forget about the bathroom, equipped according to European standards. As you understand all this is a joke, because, as we see in the photo, this 2-class carriage got obsolete 20 years ago. But people having no alternatives, have to travel in them and it is not even cheap – 115.24 UAH.
