Ukrainian-Swedish journalist project continues: the Scandinavians with Kyiv guests visited UzhNU

November 5, teachers and students of journalism department of UzhNU welcomed guests from Kyiv and Sweden, who in a few days have to evaluate their work and share their own experiences. 

Acting rector of the Uzhgorod University Fedir Vashchuk stressed that "such trainings and meetings with foreign partners and friends are very useful, because the opening of "International Journalism" speciality is planned at the department.      

Klass Tur, teacher of Swedish media institute FOJO, admitted that Ukraine for him is unexplored part of Europe. So before coming here he was trying to learn more about our country. Swedish teacher believes that in the future such an approach will be applied that anyone could be a journalist. Technical possibilities for that are limitless.  

"You are entering an era of digital journalism. I hope that through such trainings we can help you join the modern mass media process," – Klass Tur said.

Daniel Svedin, a Swedish journalist, one of the opposition newspaper "Aftonbladet" publishers told the students of the first and fourth years about the importance of social networks in the journalist profession. Among the advantages of social networking, named by the Scandinavian media worker, are the possibility to observe events, direct assessment, analysis of different people’s actions. Moreover, comments and opinions of readers allow to determine the popularity of the publication. 

 Yulia Nesteriak, deputy director of the Institute of Journalism of Kyiv National University during a welcome speech said that UzhNU, in particular journalism department, remains a reliable partner for their institution, so she sincerely hopes for further cooperation between educational institutions, – reported in the UzhNU.
