“Ukrainian Requiem” by Haiduk will be heard in the Holy Cross Cathedral (Announcement)

On April 2, in Uzhgorod Holy Cross Cathedral Greek Catholic Cathedral, there will be the premiere: the Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir and the Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time will perform "UKRAINIAN REQUIEM" by Vasyl Haiduk.  

 Soloists – the winner of the regional D.Zador prize Yustina Didyk (soprano), Yana Sadvariy (mezzo-soprano), Ivan Shumsky (tenor) and Volodymyr Vogel (baritone). Conductor – Honoured Worker of Ukraine Natalia Petiy-Potapchuk.

It starts at 19.00. 

"Ukrainian Requiem" as a musical genre in the form of funeral mass with lyrics in Ukrainian language is probably the first such work in the national music. The author of this major work is Honored Artist of Ukraine, famous composer, choral conductor and teacher, deputy head of the Transcarpathian regional branch of the National Ukrainian Musical Union Vasyl Haiduk.
