Ukrainian national fencing team is the fourth at the French round of the World Cup (PHOTOS)

No medals for Ukrainian fencers at this year’s fencing World Cup that was held in the French capital – Paris.  

However, the Ukrainian team (which included Anatoliy Herey from Uzhgorod) managed to win the high 4th place. It should be noted that our team was competing without the leader of the national team Bohdan Nikishin. 

Anatoly Herey, Maxim Khvorost, Volodymyr Stankevich, and Roman Svichkar on the way to the semi-finals defeated the teams of Turkey (45:31) and the USA (43:36). The opponent in the quarterfinals was the Russian team. The duel was very tense, but Ukrainians managed to defeat the Russians – 28:23.

In the semifinal, Ukrainians fenced against tough opponents – Italians. Unfortunately, 40:29 not in our favor. In the small final for the bronze medals, the team of Ukraine fenced against the team of Japan (coached by a Ukrainian Oleksandr Horbachuk). The Japanese won 26:22 and received bronze medals, and Ukrainians finished the fourth.

The winner of the World Cup in Paris is the Korean team, the Italians are silver medalists.
