The international military exercise "Light Avalanche 2014" with generals, officers and soldiers of the four partner countries: Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania took place in Vynogradiv again. The participants are members of the international engineering "TISA" battalion established on October 1, 1999. The main goal is the training of national component especially in area of flood control in the Tisa River Basin which is common for the four countries. Every year, the exercise takes place in one the participating countries. In Vynogradiv district, the previous exercise was conducted in 2010.
This year’s exercise with military equipment again took place in Ukraine and lasted from 2 to 6 of September. Today, there was the final stage – the practical phase of the exercises. 150 soldiers took part in it: the armed forces of Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine. Most of them were, obviously, Ukrainian soldiers – 86. On the Tisa river in the village of Trosnyk (Vynogradiv district), engineering companies of the armed forces of the participating countries showed practical work and help to eliminate aftermath of disasters.
– Have you considered the option to postpone the exercises in our country in connection with the ATO? – I asked the manager of the exercises Volodymyr Kuzyk, the Acting Head of the Operational Support Department (Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "North").
He said:
– No. These exercises in Ukraine were planned by the Armed Forces of participating countries a year ago. This is our obligation and we fulfilled it adequately. By the way, the Ukrainian military engineering equipment, which took part in the international military exercise "Light Avalanche 2014", will go to the ATO area.
