Ukrainian-language camps for children from Romanian and Hungarian speaking families are organized in Transcarpathia

Participation in the project is free of charge

From August 12 to 23, Ukrainian-language camps "Bomb GoCamp" will be held in the border schools of the Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions for children from Romanian and Hungarian speaking families. In 9 educational establishments, Ukrainian language teachers, journalists and public figures will be helping to master Ukrainian through free online classes.

Transcarpathian and Bukovina national minorities encountered two key changes in the educational field this year. The first innovation is that Ukrainian language will become the language of instruction of all subjects in secondary schools, and the second one is that English language skills will be required for entry into Ukrainian universities (at B1 level). As of 2023, these languages will become obligatory for secondary and higher education in Ukraine.

Therefore, the Global Office NGO organizes the first bilingual "Bomb GoCamp" camps for students from Hungarian and Romanian speaking families. Over the course of two weeks, 50 Ukrainian language teachers and coaches will be helping children to improve their Ukrainian, and 15 foreign volunteers will motivate children not to be afraid to speak the international language – English. The classes will differ from typical classroom lessons: languages will be taught using games and quests.

Summer camps are being implemented with the support of the Finnish Project for the Support of the Ukrainian School Education Reform "Learning Together" and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
