The media have reported about the detention of a large batch of contraband cigarette on the border. According to the zakarpattya.net.ua, during the special operation, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region with the assistance of Transcarpathian customs officers and border guards of the Mukachevo detachment, yesterday, May 21, detained a large shipment of smuggled cigarettes, which a minibus with a Slovak registration was packed with almost to the top.
Representatives of a Ukrainian diplomatic institution tried to move cigarettes abroad under the guise of diplomatic cargo. Those were employees of the Consulate of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic.
In the course of the inspection, they found 56,850 packs of tobacco products with Ukrainian excise stamps totaling 620,911 UAH.
Officers of the customs post "Luzhanka" made a report on violation of customs rules under Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
It is known that during border and customs control, the driver was behaving defiantly and refused to provide the vehicle for in-depth inspection. Then the man turned the vehicle around and tried to escape from the police. The minibus was stopped at the barrier and returned to the site of inspection. As a result of the inspection, they found a large shipment of smuggled tobacco products with excise stamps of Ukraine.
