Today, on the border with Hungary, the first in this section joint contact point "Záhony" was opened. The official ceremony was attended by the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and the deputy police chief – the chief of law enforcement of Hungary Zsolt Halmosi, officials of the regions on both sides of the border, representatives of police and public authorities on both parties, the site of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine informs.
During his speech, the head of Ukrainian border guard agency noted that Hungarian and Ukrainian border guards have reached a high level of mutual trust and coordination of actions.
In turn, the deputy police chief – the chief of law enforcement of Hungary Zsolt Halmosi said at the meeting that "the new joint contact point facilitates and speeds up the work of the agencies, that fight crime, ensures the engagement and cooperation of law enforcement agencies of both countries around the clock."
The heads of the two border guard agencies signed a protocol on the establishment of a joint contact point on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, at the checkpoint "Chop (Tisa) – Záhony" on November 30, 2016, and today, its full operation commences.
The main functions of this center are to maintain communication and messaging between the border guards of the two countries, and to ensure coordination of actions during joint measures to protect the Ukrainian-Hungarian section of the border and combating criminal activities.
