State medical service is extremely concerned about the Ukrainian sales dynamics for the drugs, which include codeine.
State Service of Ukraine on drugs supports any effective mechanism of control over the sales medicines containing codeine.
In particular, it can be a tool such as prescription delivery.
Codeine is addictive and addiction to it eventually becomes so strong that drug addicts often commit crimes. Codeine abstinence develops more slowly than that of morphine, but can occur six months after beginning of treatment.
From June this year Russia prohibited the free sale of drugs that contain codeine. Now in all the medicines against cough and painkillers, such as Pentalhin-H Kodelak, Solpadein, Nurofen Plus and others codeine-containing drugs are available only by prescription.
