Ukraine will be able to survive the winter without Russian gas – the head of the “Naftogaz”

This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of the "Naftogaz Ukraine" Andriy Kobolyev at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

"If we save at the proposed rate, we should survive the winter only with the gas from Europe. If we make effort once, we have all the chances to comfortably pass the winter," – he said.

Kobolyev stressed that Ukraine’s economy has significant potential to reduce gas consumption.

"We need to reduce this consumption by 6 billion cubic meters… In the utilities sector the saving potential is at least 4 billion cubic meters a year," – he said.

According to the head of the "Naftogaz", the key factors in reducing the consumption of gas are widespread accounting and installation of heat regulation devices.

The head of the "Naftogaz" added that the company intended to maximize the reverse supply capabilities.
