Ukraine introduced recycling fee for Russian cars

According to the decision, legal entities and individuals who import cars from Russia must pay the recycling fee. In particular, for cars with an engine capacity of 1,000 to 2,000 cubic meters. cm the price is 7.37 thousand UAH, from 2000 to 3000 cu. cm – 14.08 thousand UAH. For cars from 3000 to 3500 cu. cm the price will increase to 19.085 thousand UAH, more than 3500 cu. cm – 30.25 thousand UAH.   Recycling fee for vehicles intended for the transport of 10 or more persons, as well as special purpose vehicles and body up to 2.5 thousand kg weight the amount will be 19 thousand UAH, up to 3.5 thousand kg – 30.4 thousand UAH, up to 5 thousand kg – 38 thousand UAH, from 12to 20 thousand kg – 55.86 thousand UAH, and more than 20 thousand kg – 110.2 thousand UAH. For similar vehicles older than three years, depending on the weight the rate increases at least 1,5-1,7 times (up to 5 thousand kg), 4.1 – 6.8 times for vehicles weighing 5-20 kg and more.Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov informed about Ukraine’s intention to introduce recycling fee on goods of automobile industry, which is similar to the fee intriduced in the Russian Federation on September 1.   Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine drafted a government decree, which envisages recycling fee on imported cars, trucks, buses and bodies for vehicles. According to experts, the effect of recycling fee can make Ukrainian cars in Russia by 10-12% more expensive. The government of Ukraine believe that the introduction of recycling fee is not in line with the Treaty on the CIS FTA and the Treaty of the Eurasian Commission.
