Ukraine has resumed imports of gas through Poland

In late October, Ukraine resumed imports of natural gas through the territory of Poland, which had been suspended earlier this month.

This was announced by the Polish operator "Gaz-System SA", "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

According to the Polish operator, October 26, about 1.4 million cubic meters was delivered to Ukraine through the country, October 27 – about 1.3 million cubic meters of gas.

The order for October 28 is 3.2 million cubic meters of gas.

It was reported that "Naftogaz of Ukraine" from October this year suspended reverse imports of natural gas through Poland due to the fact that its cost was close to the price of purchased Russian gas.

According to the State Statistics Service, in August 2013 the average price of the natural gas imported from Europe was only $ 2 cheaper than the price of the Russian gas.

Thus, the price of the Russian natural gas imported to Ukraine in August 2013 was 399.3 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, the gas from Europe – 397.3 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.

Imports of natural gas from Germany through Poland began in November 2012 by agreement with the company RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. In April 2013 they started supplying natural gas from Hungary.

In addition, they are conducting negotiations with the gas transport operators of Slovakia and Romania on the possibility of natural gas supply to Ukraine’s GTS.
