The Chairman of the Board of the "Naftogaz Ukraine" Andriy Kobolyev said that Ukraine is now ready to buy Russian gas, particularly for the preservation of diversification in sources of gas and its delivery routes.
He told that on Tuesday during the conference at the European Policy Centre in Brussels, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.
"We want to receive some volume of gas from Russia. We know that soon all Russian gas will go to China, but until this supereffective 50 billion dollars project is built, we are willing to pay for the gas from Russia," – he said.
Also, speaking about the volume of gas imports from Russia, Kobolyev said that it can amount to 0 to 5 billion cubic meters per year.
According to the chairman of the "Naftogaz of Ukraine", Kyiv can completely give up on Russian gas, if it can expand relations with the EU, from where Ukraine is already importing 1 billion cubic meters of gas per month.
"If we can double that amount, Ukraine will never need Russian gas," – he said.
