Two Transcarpathians were involved in smuggling of illegals to the EU: the Security Service of Ukraine blocked transit traffic

According to the preliminary version of the investigation, two residents of one of the border districts tried to organize the illegal transfer of citizens of one of the Middle Eastern countries to the European Union.

They promised their clients to help them cross the state border outside the established checkpoints.

The operatives of the special service established that before making the trips the suspects were hiding illegal immigrants in one of the restaurant complexes of the district.

SBU officers documented an attempt by the criminals to smuggle four foreigners abroad. During the investigation, law enforcement officers found at the organizers’ places of residence communications equipment, a military thermal imager, computer equipment and draft records with evidence of illegal activities.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated by the security service investigators, both defendants were indicted of a crime under Art. 332 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

Investigative actiivities to establish all the circumstances of the offense and bring to justice other persons allegedly involved in illegal activities are underway.
