On August 27, the Rescue Service received a report that explosive objects had been found in the forest area in the suburbs of Uzhgorod – Horyany.
The bomb squad of the Special Purpose Emergency and Rescue Detachment was sent for removal and desposition. Rescuers identified those objecs as 2 mortar shells of 82 mm caliber. On the same day, they were destroyed at the training ground in the village of Orikhovytsia, Uzhgorod district.
As it turned out, the ammunition had been found the day before by a local inhabitant during mushroom hunting.
In total, since the beginning of 2017, 281 explosive objects from the past wars have been found and disposed of on the territory of Transcarpathian region.
