The military prosecutor’s office of the Western region of Ukraine is investigating a criminal proceeding against the organizer of the so-called "private border" in Transcarpathia nicknamed "Doki", who is suspected of organizing a takeover of the border area land in collusion with officials of the State Land Agency in Transcarpathian region, the press service of the military prosecutor’s office of the Western region of Ukraine.
As a result of such illegal actions, more than 130 hectares of the aforementioned land plots were privatized.
During the pre-trial investigation of this criminal proceeding, prosecutors and investigators found 2 private observation towers along the state border of Ukraine, which were used by the offenders to watch for border patrols of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. On February 16, 2018, the illegal structures were demolished.
The pretrial investigation continues. The involvement of other persons in the commission of the said criminal offense is being determined. The indictment will soon be referred to the court for consideration on merits.
