The Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council believes that it is time to deal with solid household waste, the press service of the Regional Council reported.
On Tuesday, March 21, there was a meeting of the Standing Deputy Committee on Business Development, Industrial Infrastructure, Banking and Investment, during which the issues of solid household waste, road repairs and entrepreneurship were discussed. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis, the head of the regional state administration Hennadiy Moskal.
The deputies discussed the materials of the second plenary meeting of the 10th session of the regional council. First of all, the amendments to the Solid Waste Management Program in Transcarpathian region for 2016-2020. According to the director of the department of infrastructure, development and maintenance of public road network and utilities of the RSA Eduard Malyar, the amendments relate to the Program’s measures, which include such an important initiative as implementation of investment projects in the field of solid waste management and a clear procedure for the use of the regional budget funds.
"Currently, an entrepreneur from the village of Barvinok of Uzhgorod district has appealed to us with a proposal on the construction of a waste recycling facility (landfill and sorting line), since the current one has exhausted its resource," – Malyar said, and expressed the hope that the government would continue to support such initiatives for the needs of other village and town councils.
"We must not spread out funds, but build 2-3 powerful modern landfills in the region and deal with solid household waste", – Rivis said.
The session will be held on March 29.
