Two large groups of illegal aliens were detained by border guards in Transcarpathia

Eleven illegal migrants, who intended to reach EU countries bypassing checkpoints, were detained by border guards of the Chop detachment over the past 24 hours.

Nine of them were found by a border outfit yesterday afternoon near the village of Kamyanytsia, Uzhgorod district. While patroling, a sniffer dog found a trail. It led them to a group of unknown people hiding in the forest. The detainees were six men and three women. None of the illegal aliens had any documents on them. It was preliminary established that all foreigners were Vietnamese nationals.

Two more offenders were detained in the evening near the village of Stuzhytsia in Velyky Berezny district. While patroling, border guards noticed two men were moving toward the border. The unknown persons were detained and taken to the border unit. They had identification documents on them. One of the detainees was a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, the other one – a citizen of Uzbekistan. During the interview, the detainees admitted they intended to cross the border illegally in search of better living conditions in the EU countries.

Measures are currently being taking to identify the traffickers of illegal migrants. The detainees were taken to the temporary detention center of the Chop border guard detachment to carry out verification measures and to draw up the relevant procedural documents. After establishment of all the circumstances of the offense, they will be brought to administrative liability under Part 2 of Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine".
