A resident of the city of Vynogradiv appealed to Vynogradiv district police. The applicant reported that unknown persons had stolen gold jewelry with precious stones from his 4-year-old child.
As the officers of the criminal police found out, on that day, the 4-year-old girl was playing in the courtyard of her house. Several young men came up to their house and called the girl to come to the gate. When they saw gold earrings on the child, they took the jewelry off of the girl’s ears. After that, they fled.
When the father returned home, the daughter told him what had happened. The man appealed to the police.
Law enforcement learned from neighbors that some guys were hanging around on the street in search of scrap. The police suspected them. Soon, the thieves were found. They were two locals aged 13 and 14. They hid the stolen earrings in the bushes near their home and planned to take them to the pawnshop later.
The police started criminal proceeding over this incident under Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft). The investigator has already notified the older thief, who has reached the age of 14, that he is suspected of committing a criminal offense. As for the younger one, he will be referred to a special institution. The investigators are also checking the possible involvement of the boys in the commission of similar crimes. The preliminary inquiry is ongoing.
