Two films of the Transcarpathian director received awards at the festival of historic films

Films of Transcarpathian director Vyacheslav Bihun "Strong in Spirit" and "Thought of the Son. Heart of Gongadze’s Mother" were recognized as "Best Historic Film" and "Best Image in a Frame", respectively, at the V International Historic Film Festival on April 13-15 in Kyiv, the organizers informed. Thus, the director’s films since 2014 have already won 36 film festival awards.

The film "Strong in Spirit" is an epic documentary film about Yuriy Yatsenko, a Ukrainian political prisoner who was the first to escape from the Kremlin prison after the beginning of the new European war.    

Three more films by the director were screened at the festival: "Chendey’s Well" about the legendary writer of the "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" Ivan Chendey; "The Last Soldier" about a Transcarpathian optimist created in collaboration with O. Havrosh, and "Unforgotten. Myroslava" about the complex, but romantic fate of 90-year-old Ukrainian poetess and public figure Myroslava Buchko-Yurissaar.

Recall that the films of the director have already been awarded at this International Festival (chairman of the jury – Ivan Kanivets).Thus, the films "Heart of Gongadze’s Mother" and "Dovzhenko. Ukrainian Homer in Cinema" were awarded for "Best Image in a Frame", "Shevchenko Lives. Lesya’s Confession" for "Best Sound", "Letter to Tarkovsky" for "Best Cinematography", and "Closest to God" for "Best Script".
