Cooperation of Ukrainian border guards with their colleagues from neighboring countries bordering Ukraine improves the effectiveness of the fight against criminal activities, and the ongoing exchange of information allows to respond promptly to the situation and take timely preventive measures.
One of the successful examples of such cooperation was the detention of two "divers" by border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment together with Romanian border guards and prevention of the smuggling of 10 boxes of tobacco products.
Thus, during the protection of the border, border patrol of the department "Velyky Bychkiv" detained two men in diving suits when they just were coming out of the Tisa river. The "swimmers" had no IDs, but said that they were citizens of Ukraine. Border guards immediately informed their Romanian colleagues about the detention. After, opposite the site of the detection, they found 10 boxes of tobacco, which apparently were being smuggled by them.
The detained persons were delivered to the Department of Border Guard Service "Velyky Bychkiv" for filtration and verification activities and preparation of administrative reports under Part 2 of Art.204-1 of the CAO.
The court imposed on the offenders the penalty in the form of UAH 3,400 fine each.
