Tuberculosis patients to be treated compulsorily

The President of Ukraine signed the Law ‘On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine ‘On the fight against tuberculosis and other legislative acts of Ukraine’ with the reference to the Head of the State press service, informs Interfax. 

The Law provides compulsory hospitalization of patients with this disease, identified by the health workers of all the health care institutions regardless of their ownership. The circle of persons, subject of a preventive medical examination has been significantly expanded – children under the age of 18 are also have to be examined. In accordance with the law there should be created a nationwide registry of patients with tuberculosis, Article 14 defines the procedure for compulsory isolation of such patients by a court decision.

It is forbidden to attend educational institutions for those who have the active form of the disease. The Central body of Executive Power in Educational sphere sets the special order according to which they should study.
