Trees have been planted on ​​Sandor Petofi Square in Uzhgorod

Today, 14 young saplings of the Liquidambar were planted in the renovated pedestrian zone of Sandor Petofi Square.

It was this tree that Uzhgorod residents cast the largest number of votes for at the public consultation, during which the City Council studied the opinion of city residents about the trees that should be planted on this square.

The Liquidambar has large (up to 20 cm) bright green palmatilobate leaves looking like some species of maple. The tree is especially attractive in autumn, when the leaves become dark-purple, or purple-brown, orange, red. Knurrs give it a fantastic look and decorate the tree in the winter.

It is a light-loving plant that is resistant to urban conditions. It can grow up to 10-20 m high, the crown is pyramid-shaped 6-12 m wide, life expectancy is up to 100 years, – Uzhgorod city council informs on its Official page
