Transcarpathians will be able to receive medicines under electronic prescription in April

The government is introducing a new, more convenient mechanism for obtaining "affordable medicines" – using electronic prescription. Starting in April, doctors will be issuing only e-prescriptions for the medicines provided under the Government’s program "Affordable medicines". The e-prescription will allow patients to receive the medicines they need at any pharmacy, that is included in the program, regardless of the city or village the prescription was issued in. A drug prescribed by a doctor, for example, in Lviv, can be easily bought using an e-prescription at a pharmacy in Kyiv or Odesa. In order to get "affordable medicines" using an e-prescription you need to: 1. Ask your family doctor or therapist to issue an e-prescription for the required drug. A message with prescription code will be sent to your mobile phone. If you do not have a phone, the doctor will print you the code. 2. Visit the pharmacy that takes part in the program and has an "Affordable medicines" sticker on the door, tell the pharmacist the code of your prescription, and get your drug for free or with a discount. The "Affordable medicines" program was introduced by the Government in April 2017. At present, 258 drugs for cardiovascular diseases, type II diabetes and bronchial asthma are available under this program, 64 of them are available for free. Since the introduction of the program, the government reimbursed the cost of drugs under more than 33 million prescriptions and transferred to pharmacies more than UAH 1.7 billion. The government plans to expand the program, the number of available drugs will increase.
