Today, January 11, in Uzhgorod, they summed up the charity campaign "Help peers from the East", which was launched about a month ago at the initiative of Transcarpathian volunteers and the support of the Department of Culture of the RSA.
The regional library for children and youth was appointed the project coordinator. The collection of books took place there, and later the books were packed and handed over to volunteers. According to the deputy director of the library, Inna Khmara, many people contributed to the campaign, including young Transcarpathians who genuinely shared their books with their peers from Luhansk region, in addition many books were provided by workers of the Regional Library for Children and Youth, Uzhgorod City Library for Children Velyky Berezny, Mizhhirya and Tyachiv district libraries for children, Academic Puppet Theater "Bavka" and the Regional Art Museum.
In total, they managed to collect nearly 200 books. All books are modern, well maintained, with beautiful illustrations and, not least, in Ukrainian language. According to volunteers, Ukrainian books in Luhansk region are now both strategically necessary and requested by children themselves, therefore the book cargo will be delivered to where it is most expected – school and children’s libraries.
In turn, the head of Culture Department of the Regional State Administration Yuriy Hleba expressed hope that the campaign would continue.
