Transcarpathian "tradition" to burn dead wood remains, despite annual, repeated warnings. Thus, only during the first three days of April, 13 cases of infammation of dry grass and debris in an open area were recorded in the region, the statement of the Head of the State Emergencies Service Office in Transcarpathia Miroslav Shcherbey says. And since the beginning of the year (as of April 4), units of emergencies service in Transcarpathia have eliminated 179 fires in ecosystems of the region.
Warning about the danger posed by a fire, the rescuer says: burning of dry grass in the fields with high-voltage power lines, pipelines or near forests is especially dangerous. And the smoke from such fires can form smog, which impairs visibility on the roads, leading to increase in the number of accidents.
The State Emergencies Service once again appeals to residents of the region to stop burning dry grass, bushes and all kinds of stuff and follow basic requirements while staying outdoors, in summer cottage, private residential sector.
"Only by joint efforts of rescue workers and citizens’ conscious attitude we can create a reliable barrier against fire, and thus protect ourselves and the nature from damage," – the statement of M.Shcherbey says.
