Transcarpathians celebrated the 26th anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe

Today, April 26, at the Peoples’ Friendship Square (Druzhby Narodiv) in Uzhgorod a rally-requiem was held, dedicated to the twenty-sixth anniversary of the accident at Chernobyl nuclear power station.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloga, the chairman of the regional state administration Aleksandr Ledyda, Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Trikur, deputies of regional and city councils, representatives of public organizations, creative unions, clergy, students and other citizens.
The rally-requiem started with a prayer service for the health of the living liquidators and the funeral liturgy for the dead, whose feat will live forever.
Those present paid tribute to the victims and dead heroes, the liquidators, with a minute of silence. After that the participants of the rally-requiem laid flowers at the memorial, the press service of the regional council informs.
