Vladislav Kurta, a young Uzhgorod caver recently set the official record of Ukraine in speleocontest – vertical climbing on a rope – on the distance of 30 meters.
The record was set with an unexpected result of 21’09 seconds, which is not only twice better than the previous national record (Oleksiy Zhdanovich, 40’21 seconds in 1999), but also exceeds the actual world record (John Brown, 24’6 seconds).
After this achievement, Vladislav and his coaches set a new goal – the world record that they actually beat. But preparation for and registration of a new world record is a complex process that requires time and money.
Currently, the team of our record holder is preparing to new challenges that will bring Transcarpathian school of speleology at world level.
