In the forest near the Ukrainian border (near the village of Husak), Slovak border guards detained one of the smugglers, the other managed to escape to Transcarpathia, the Mukachevo.net reported.
According to the press service of the Sobrance Police Department, two men carrying heavy boxes on their backs were detected by a mobile patrol. They tried to detain the violators. However, they left their cargo and tried to escape. One of them succeeded.
In total, 240 packs of cigarettes "Jin Ling" without excise stamps were confiscated. The financial loss to the state was estimated at 4,900 euros.
The case is being investigated by the investigator of the Criminal department of financial administration in the city of Sobrance.
