More than 100 activists from Irshava district, including 35 members of Irshava district councils, 15 district village heads today rallied near the Transcarpathian Regional Administration. Their main demand is to reinstate a district council member Ivan Ledney as the director of Dovhe forestry and enforcement of the district council decision whereby two-thirds of the deputies passed a motion of no confidence in the head of Irshava District State Administration, a member of the Svoboda party Vasyl Svichkar.
The protesters decided to meet with the "Governor" Valeriy Lunchenko, but policemen blocked the RSA building. A few minutes later, under pressure from protesters, they were let into the building on Narodna Square. The public met with Valeriy Lunchenko on the ground floor of the administration. The Chairman of Irshava District Council Ivan Savko said that deputies had expressed dissatisfaction about the removal of their colleague Ivan Ledney from office. Also, two-thirds of the deputies have twice passed a no confidence motion to the head of the District State Administration, who, according to the protesters, was behind the dismissal of the head of the forestry and the appointment of his man Mykhailo Nytka to the post. The Chairman of the Council reminded that deputies had sent to the Presidential Administration the decision on no confidence in the head of the district administration. Also, the deputies decided to revoke the powers of the District Council delegated to Irshava district state administration.
After several minutes of arguement, Valeriy Lunchenko on demand of the public, in the presence of the protesters, called the head of the State Forest Resources Agency Valeriy Chernyakov and expressed his position – people should be heard. Chernyakov answered that he would study the issue, but did not give a more specific answer.
In turn, representatives of Irshava district promised to continue to actively defend their position.
