Late last year, the Parliament by its decision limited free meals in primary schools, leaving it only for orphans and children deprived of parental care, children with special educational needs enrolled in special and inclusive forms, and students of 1-4 grades from families that receive assistance, as low-income families. This decision led to negative feedback. Now it is being reviewed by the legislature.
– In district budgets, there are balances from 2015, which are enough to provide free meals for all primary school pupils – H. Moskal said. – Changes to the laws adopted by the Parliament do not allow local authorities to finance catering for primary school students, it can be done only if appropriate programs are adopted in cities and regions. Heads of district state administrations and mayors of the cities in the region have been ordered to do that. Children can not understand why some of them have meals, and others do not, therefore in Transcarpathia, all them without exception will be provided with free meals.
