Transcarpathian Regional Council supports the nationwide strike, announced in Kyiv on the Maidan, and the demands of the protesters. The Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha urges concerned Transcarpathians to join the strike on the streets of the country, our Transcarpathia, to support the demands that were declared on them.
"I urge local councils, deputies of all levels, city, town and village heads to not be indifferent, to voice their opinion, to hold sessions and announce a clear position on the events in the country. Also, I urge members of the Transcarpathian Regional Council to not be afraid of the pressure, and, in this difficult time for the country, to decide whether you are on the side of those who gave orders to beat the young people on the Maidan or you’re on the side of the people. We must make the government reckon with the interests of 46 million people. I urge students, doctors, teachers, intellectuals, businessmen, farmers on the region to show civil courage and to join the national strike. Now, on the streets of the country, people are defending their position, standing for the European future of Ukraine. The European idea has finally won in Ukraine. United are strong" – the regional council chairman Ivan Baloha said.
Due to the nationwide strike, the activities planned at the regional council for 2-8 of December are canceled – Transcarpathian Regional Council reported.
