On Tuesday, December 25, the Acting Head of the Regional State Administration Ivan Kachur met with representatives of the Program of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) "Health of Women of Ukraine."
The "Health of Women of Ukraine" is a five-year program of USAID, which has been implemented in the country since 2011. Its aim is to promote the reproductive health of women and couples of Ukraine. According to the Project Director Oleg Kuzmenko, the task is to implement three main areas: public awareness about family planning and reproductive health, training of medical staff and support of an enabling regulatory environment in the field of family and health on national and regional levels.
For the effective implementation of the Program specialists conduct workshops, seminars, trainings, distribute information and educational materials, conduct joint actions with non-government youth and women’s organizations. All activities are aimed to raise awareness of Ukrainians about family planning and reproductive health.
During the five years the Program will be implemented in 14 regions and the city of Kyiv. Today Transcarpathian region joined this program.
Ivan Kachur assured in full support of the regional authorities in the organization of all events planned by the Programme experts in Transcarpathia:
– We understand the importance of the Program, so we are happy to join it. Reproductive health is the foundation of the health of all our citizens. We therefore support information campaigns among young people, the population of the region. Certainly, it is important to increase the professionalism of our doctors and medical staff who have to provide professional advice on family planning.
At the end of the meeting they signed Partnership Agreement between Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Program "Health of Women of Ukraine", – informed the the press-center of RSA.
