Transcarpathian Puppet Theatre “Bavka” celebrates 35th anniversary (Announcement)

On March 25, 2016, at 15:00, in the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater, there will the event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the theater, its page on Facebook informs.

Transcarpathian puppet theater in Uzhgorod was founded in 1980 by the decision of the City Administration. Initially, the theater had no permanent premises adapted for performances.

In 1988, the puppet theater was granted a historic building, which in the 1920s housed the first Transcarpathian theater, created by the "Prosvita". Two years later, the then director of the theater Oleksandr Turyanytsya initiated the first festival "Interlyalka" which later became one of the most popular and famous festivals for puppet theaters in Central Europe. The Transcarpathian puppet theater received the name "Bavka" in 2005.

Currently, Uzhgorod Puppet Theater prepares premiere performances, is in constant creative search, taking an active part in the cultural and social life of the city and the region.
