Transcarpathian prosecutors are checking foresters

They initiated the criminal proceedings against the director of the forestry, whose actions resulted in illegal felling of nearly 130 trees, which caused substantial damage to the state amounting to more than 86,000 UAH. Transcarpathian Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office for supervision over the observance of laws in environmental protection registered in the URPI the information about the criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The audit revealed that the said official had illegally issued order "On prolongation of the term for logging and exporting of wood", whereby he prolonged the term for logging after the expiration of harvesting ticket without obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
The illegality of the order has already been confirmed by the decision of the Lviv Administrative Court of Appeal.
The materials for the pre-trial investigation were forwarded to the prosecutor of Transcarpathian region.
