Transcarpathian police detained criminals from Kyiv and Kherson

Two residents of Kherson region and the city of Kyiv, one of whom spent half of his life in prison, were committing crimes in Transcarpathia. The "guests" were detained by the police.

It all started when on the night from Sunday to Monday, a local supermarket in Volovets was robbed. Unknown offenders broke the glass on a window at the back of the store and entered the premises. The thieves stole 45 cartons of expensive cigarettes worth about 10,000 UAH.

Investigating the crime, Volovets investigators detained a 50-year-old native of Kherson region.According to the man himself, he spent 27 years of his life in prison.   He was released in May and came to Transcarpathia, to the city of Mukachevo. Here, together with his friend, a 34-year-old resident of Kyiv, he rented an apartment on Okruzhna street.

When Volovets investigators visited this apartment, they found there not only the cigarettes stolen from the supermarket in Volovets, but also drugs. In particular, they found nearly 500 grams of poppy, 200 grams of marijuana and ingredients for "shirka".

The resident of Kherson region says that he committed the theft in Volovets alone, without his roommate.  The store surveillance cameras also captured only him.

But the investigation should find out if he really was alone while committing the crime. Also, the involvement of the Kherson ex-convict in other thefts in neighboring districts is being checked. And the resident of Kyiv faces criminal liability for keeping and possible distribution of narcotics. The investigation continues.
