Transcarpathian People’s Deputies have appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine on a new checkpoint on the border with Romania

Robert Horvat, Vasyl Petyovka and Valeriy Lunchchenko sent the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman a request on the issue of concluding an agreement between the Government of Romania and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the opening of the border crossing point "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmatiei".

One of the co-authors of the request, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Robert Horvat, reported the following.

"This agreement has been on the agenda of Ukrainian-Romanian relations for a long time, and last year representatives of the two countries made agreements on the establishment of a crossing point and the construction and operation of the bridge across the Tisa river. Since there are only 2 automobile checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Romanian border in Transcarpathia, the need to open a new checkpoint is more than relevant," – Horvat said.

In the appeal, Horvat, Lunchchenko and Petyovka requested to ensure the development of the feasibility study for making of the final decision on the establishment of the border crossing point "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmatiei", as well as the financing of the work on the reinforcement of banks of the Tisa river during the construction of a bridge on the territory of Ukraine and construction of the 1.5 km motorway to the checkpoint.

In addition, the deputies drew attention to the need to ensure coordination of the draft Agreement (in the form of note exchange) between the Government of Romania and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the opening of the new border crossing point for the international border crossing "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmatiei"
