According to the decision of Uzhgorod City Executive Committee, physicians of city hospitals should not provide routine medical care to patients from other districts who come without a referral. This was reported by the municipal newspaper with reference to explanations of the Deputy Mayor Yury Belyakov.
"We sent out letters to district state administrations asking to pay us the money that the city spends on non-resident patients. While we have reached agreement with Uzhhorod district, from the other ones we received the answer that their hospitals do not give referrals to Uzhgorod, they also have specialists there – and therefore they are not going to compensate anything. And since the budget funds for medicine are already very modest, the cost of treating non-residents only exacerbate the problem of lack of money", – Mr. Yuri complains.
So patients from different parts of Transcarpathia will have to be treated at home. Not everyone is happy about it, but currently there is no other option, the publication says.
