Ukrainian national fencing team won the world championship in Moscow.

In the final match, the Ukrainian team consisting of Bogdan Nikishin, Anatoly Herey, Maxim Khvorost and Dmytro Karyuchenko defeated the team of South Korea with the score 34:24, the Mukachevo.net informs.

On the way to gold medals, Ukrainian fencers in the quarterfinals defeated the team of Russia (34:33), and in the semifinals – the team of Italy (15:11).

Anatoly Herey was born in a sports family. His father was a coach, uncle was also coach, and his younger sister was an athlete too. According to the champion, he does not regret having chosen the same career.

"For me, it is a combat. That is, you fight an opponent one on one. Like other combat sports, it is interesting in terms of diversity of techniques. My speciality is epee. It originated as a dueling weapon in the time of musketeers, who lived in France in the seventeenth century.   The most important thing here is to be quicker than your opponent: if you hit first – you survived. This principle is preserved in the sport. If you hit first, then your light turns on instantly and you receive one point," – Anatoly Herey said.
