Transcarpathian, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions signed a declaration on establishment of cooperation platform for the regional self-government of the Carpathians

During the Forum of Local Development, which took place this weekend in Truskavets, the Transcarpathian Regional Council chairman Mykhailo Rivis took part in the meeting of the heads of self-governments of the Carpathian regions – Lviv Regional Council Oleksandr Hanuschyn and Chernivtsi Regional Council Ivan Muntyan. The event was also attended by the executive director of "Carpathian Euroregion – Ukraine" Galina Litvin and the chairman of Svalyava District Council, the deputy chairperson of the Association of Local Self-Governments "Carpathian Euroregion – Ukraine" Miroslava Lyvch.

They talked about strengthening interregional cooperation to improve the effectiveness of regional development in the Carpathians.

As noted by Oleksandr Hanuschyn, it is very important to have a common macro-regional strategy for the Carpathian region.

– During the Forum, we present the Carpathian macro-regional strategy for the European Union. We want to get representatives of all the Carpathian countries involved in this initiative. Also, it is necessary to have a constant dialogue, especially of self-governing bodies, to promote this idea, – he said.

Finally, following the meeting, the leaders of the three western regions of Ukraine signed a declaration on the establishment of an informal cooperation platform for regional self-governments of the Carpathians.

– Thus we declare willingness to constant communication at the events, that are held in the territory of our regions, to strengthen the coordination for the development of the Carpathian region – Mykhailo Rivis summed up.
