Transcarpathian law enforcement officers are fighting against manifestations of separatism

The actions of the regional law enforcement agencies are precise and coordinated and aimed at combating and preventing separatism

Through coordinated activities of the regional law enforcement agencies, the investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region has completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings against a Transcarpathian S. over committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art.109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – namely, public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order and the seizure of state power, and distribution of materials calling for such actions.

The indictment in the said criminal proceeding has been approved and forwarded to the Uzhgorod city and district court for consideration on the merits.

According to the head of the interdepartmental working group on fighting, counteracting and preventing separatism, infringement of territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, the First Deputy Prosecutor of Transcarpathian region Roman Balyta: "Given the escalation of separatism and other manifestations that threaten the territorial integrity and inviolability of the state and aimed at committing sabotage, other serious offenses, our interdepartmental group continues to work actively".

As a result of the activity of this group, the investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region notified Petro Hetsko of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art.110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine over the distribution of calls for intentional actions to change the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine, encroachment on its territorial integrity and inviolability, through active imposition of ideas, calls for the invasion in Transcarpathian region, which is an integral part of Ukraine, of the armed forces of a foreign state and establishing extralegal territorial entity. However, the notification was not delivered due to his absence in the territory of Ukraine, as during the investigation it was found out that the latter is running from the investigating authorities in the Russian Federation, therefore Hetsko was put in wanted list. However, they continue to monitor his "activity": publications and appearances in the media of Hetsko and his supporters are recorded and all the evidence is collected and their legal assessment is carried out.

The pretrial investigation into the intentional actions aimed at inciting national enmity and hatred, humiliation of national honor and dignity of citizens, that is on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art.161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine continues.

Also the investigation into the commission of public calls to commit intentional action to change the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine, to violation of the constitutional order in Ukraine, that is on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art.110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been initiated.

Recently, the Prosecutor of Transcarpathian region ordered to merge the said criminal proceedings and to conduct further investigation.

Actions of the regional law enforcement officers are coordinated: any facts and information about the manifestations of separatism, encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine are checked. There is a constant exchange of information, all services work efficiently and smoothly and do their best in this situation to prevent any negative effects in the region.
