By the Decree of the President of Ukraine dd. June 20, 2014 № 543/2014, for personal courage and heroism in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, indestructibility of spirit and faithfulness to the military oath, the Order "For Courage" of the III degree was awarded posthumously to Lieutenant Colonel Boris Sereda, the Chief Artillery of the 128th mountain-infantry brigade, who died on April 30, 2014, while on duty.

Boris Sereda lived in the village of Trosnyk in Vynogradiv district. He left a wife and a son – a freshman of Lviv Military Academy.

On June 30, the military commissar of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat Colonel Ivan Vasyltsyun together with the head of Vynogradiv district administration Vitaliy Lyubka and the deputy chief of the 128th mountain-infantry brigade Colonel Yevhen Bondar visited the family and personally presented the award to the wife of the deceased soldier, – the press group of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat reported.

Vynogradiv District State Administration informs that in 2010-2012, Boris Sereda was the deputy commander of the military unit in Vynogradiv. After the disbandment of the unit, he served in Mukachevo. In the spring of this year, the Lieutenant Colonel performed the tasks of protection of Ukrainian state border with the Russian Federation in Sumy region. However, he suffered a sad fate…

It is a pity that the award found the Hero posthumously!..
