Transcarpathian forestries have started the autumn tree planting and seed harvesting. Perechyn forestry was one of the first.
Experts of the SE "Perechyn Forestry" say that this year has been good for seeds. The plans for this year is to harvest 324 kg of forest seeds, including 3 kilograms of spruce, 303 kilograms of common oak and sessile oak, 15 kg of maple, sycamore, 3 kilograms of ash.
The director of Perechyn forestry Yaroslav Kopolovets says:
"The main objective of forest seed harvesting is to obtain seeds of forest species with valuable hereditary properties and high sowing quality for high-performance and high-quality forest plantations, Right now, at Perechyn forestry, we are actively collecting seeds to fill the shortage of forest seed raw materials. Average samples of the harvested seeds are sent for examination to the "Transcarpathian forest seed laboratory." After examination of the seeds we receive the certificate of its suitability for sowing."
Interestingly, the seeds with approved quality get sown in forestry nurseries. This year, it is planned to plant 0.25 ha of forest nurseries.
